The first Maker’s Junction 2017 at Tokyo University of Science

A New Initiative to Promote Manufacturing

A program for students in TUS

On June 22, 2017, we conducted our first collaborative program, named Maker’s Junction, with Professor Shinya Sasaki’s lab at Tokyo University of Science (“TUS”). This is the first of three events held by the program organized by Tokyo Fabhub. The program aims to connect and bridge various stakeholders in manufacturing to create chemical reactions among the participants and open a new path for collaborative works in manufacturing.

Talk session with Mr. Ogawa

The first session in the program was a talk session with Mr. Masayoshi Ogawa, director of Ogawa Technical Works. Mr. Ogawa shared his unique career as an engineer: after working as a spacecraft and aircraft designer he decided to work with small factories in Tokyo as a manufacturing integrator. We had a free discussion with students about engineer’s career development and issues related to women engineers.

The session went well with 70 percent of participants want to recommend the program to others.

Our next session will be in September of October this year: a tour to various small factories in Katsushika.
